Therapeutic Coaching and Mentoring
My child is worried about going to school
Your child is worried and stressed every day at the prospect of going to school or perhaps they express their worry and stress during their day at school. You are aware of the distress they’re showing.
As a parent, it can be challenging to manage the situation. School is a ‘must’, their education is really important, but when you see your child in a whole lot of discomfort and emotional pain over it, you don’t know how to help them.
You may find yourself walking on eggshells, trying to create the ‘right’ conditions to facilitate the daily transition from home to school and make it as painless as possible, but it feels futile.
Your child is often in tears, presents with tummy aches, and pains, feels anxious, and visibly distressed. If your child is older, they may simply assert that they are not going to school, and you’re powerless to help them and getting them to see that going to school is in their long term interests. Right now, you’re in the short term. You’ve had countless meetings and chats with the school, and whilst they’re supporting you, they don’t live your daily experience.
Everyday is a battle. You feel worn out, constantly reassuring, coaxing and allaying their fears, whatever they may be. They have become so fearful and worried, you don’t know how to help them. You feel useless and hopeless, and fearful yourself for your child having to live through this upset on a daily basis.
I can help your child by offering them a free, non-judgemental space to share their own experience. We will work together to identify the key areas of their discomfort and take the time to recognize and acknowledge their emotions, understand their thoughts and feelings safely. I will teach them tools to empower them in their situation and by working together we will develop strategies that they can use themselves confidently and comfortably, coaching and mentoring them to feel a sense of calm and happiness.

Just wanted to check in with an update really. I’ve noticed a real improvement in her general state of mind since she came to see you. She’s much happier in herself and behaves (in my opinion) like a happy 8 year old girl... with the regular tantrums & acting out that you would expect!! Just wanted to thank you really! The changes weren’t instant and I never expected them to be: but where we are now, only a month later is far more than I could have ever hoped for. So thank you, so much!
Vidya was recommended to us by a close friend when we were extremely concerned about our son who had become highly anxious. We knew that habits ranging from excessive knuckle and toe clicking to various evening rituals needed to addressed.
Vidya is incredibly personable yet professional and she made us feel at ease straight away. She also connected with our son extremely quickly. Whilst their conversations were private, he clearly liked and trusted Vidya. Most importantly his habits and anxieties appear to have reduced significantly. Furthermore, he wanted to continue the sessions once the original programme had ended. We genuinely cannot recommend Vidya enough. Thank you!
